Bad start good finish

87mile today but not having pasta last night caught up with me this morning along with no porridge. Really suffering for first 90mins from Annandale Water up to Abington then breakfast finally kicked in for last long climb before Douglas.

Greeted with some fantastic refreshments (including the tasty Tunnock's caramels) by the very hospitable Harbro team at Birkhill- thanks to Steve Kenyon for arranging this

Mark Fleming joined us today for company and motivation and Rammy tried to bribe him with £10 to push me and Graeme hard but he didn't take - Rammy should know that coppers need bigger bribes than a miserly tenner! Mark showed his Ironman triathlete prowess off grinding massive gears up any hill with legs that Shergar would have been proud of - thanks for the company Mark

Good ride up to Loch Lomond for more stunning views at the YHA - my eyes have been opened up to youth hostelling

Kindest regards
