Learning outcomes from this novice

There is a saying 'don't get it right, just get it going', which is great for those whom don't overplan like me, but you do often learn the hard way.

After a hard 9m run fri night in sub 70mins I rested saturday for what turned out to be a wet & windy 94m ride today. 10m in and got a puncture from loose stones - will now carry 2 spare tubes as £3 a pop from Tesco its easier to change than repair whilst out especially with noisy traffic.

Uncomfortable all the way as my loving wife bought me some fizzy lucozade energy - warning, this gave me stomach cramps from 20m onwards which aint good when trying to be streamlined!

Orange filter lenses were great in cloudy weather as it looked much clearer, but not much cop when its hurling down and they don't come with wipers!

Try the SIS Go Energy bars - easy to carry and banana fudge ones tasted quite good - take care unwrapping on the move

Last learning outcome - drain covers are like black ice when wet

Kindest regards
